Getting a head start on Christmas, cont.

As fall drifts down on us, it occurs to me that I should be working on Christmas miniatures again. My granddaughter talked me into this tiny Santa last year and he came out great - I even sold a few and she got a "commission" as the designer. Then I went a step further and made one half the size! The Santa is about 5/12th of an inch tall as are the other figures - the size of people in a dollhouse for a 1" scale dollhouse or 6" ornaments for a 1" scale tree.

This is a "full-sized" fairy (6" tall) I made a a workshop last year holding one of my micro-miniature dolls in her hand. The doll is about 5/12" tall. I'm working a little while each day on creating new micro-miniature dolls that will serve as people in 1/144th scale houses or dolls in larger scales. This doll would be a "Polly Pocket" size in a 1/12 scale house, a "Barbie" size in Half-inch scale and two foot high doll in Quarter scale.

MicroMiniatures

I've just participated in a wonderful on line converntion which gathered those who work in 1/144th scale. That is the size of a dollhouse in a dollhouse, where 1/12th inch = 1 foot. We got a wonderful souvenir scene to assemble that has about 300 pieces. Today I painted all the brickwork and sidewalks. I'll be adding my progress as I work on this project.
